Tired of bread, butter, eggs, milk, and cereals? Try a smoothie to keep you charged through lunch. The fruits and vegetables in smoothies provide your body with the protein and fiber you need to function your best, and they can support weight loss. They are a perfect solution for satisfying that grumbling stomach. Smoothies provide much-needed minerals, vitamins, and nutrients without jamming your digestive system and adding excess weight.
Make Time For Breakfast
For those of you who are anything like me, you may find it difficult to eat breakfast in the morning. More often than not, breakfast is one of the most commonly skipped meals. The unfortunate reality is that we all need to eat breakfast. There is a reason the saying “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day” exists. Like it or not, your breakfast sets the pace for the rest of your day. Most people who skip this meal often end up with dips in their energy levels along with over-eating to an extreme.
You Are What You Eat
When it comes to breakfast we all need to refuel. During sleep, our bodies never stop working. This means that any reserves we had from the day before get burned off and broken down throughout the night. That means we start the day out more often than not in the red. When you choose to skip breakfast your body still needs the same building blocks. In order for your body to continue to function the way it needs to, it fills this order for essential building blocks by breaking down different parts of your body. For the record, fat is one of the last body items to be broken down for energy. Most of the time our muscle, connective tissue, and bones are the first to take a hit. This creates more problems than solutions. A great way to ease your way back into breakfast, on the days you are short on time or not quite hungry yet, is with smoothies.

Creamy Peach

Bonus points: Their high fiber content makes peaches a great fruit for promoting weight loss because they keep you feeling fuller longer. Peaches are good sources of dietary fiber and minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, manganese, iron, zinc, and copper. These minerals are important for various body processes such as respiration and blood health.
Nettle Smoothie:
Steep one ounce of nettles in water overnight. Blend with honey, a small amount of almond milk or coconut milk, and a cup of water, and enjoy.
Bonus Points: This herb has myriad benefits related to hormonal imbalance.
Smoothies are fast, easy, and filling. They make a great breakfast on the go, are packed with vitamins, minerals, and nutrients, and will keep you charged well throughout the morning.
Plan Ahead
For those mornings when it feels like you have no time to eat. I suggest to my clients that they prepare smoothies in silicon reusable containers that they can store in the freezer. Smoothies themselves take little to no time to make. In fact, the part that takes the longest is the prep work. So, when you take that out of the equation you end up with breakfast in under a minute, take that pop tarts. Another complaint I hear often from clients regarding hunger and cravings throughout the day is due to dehydration. Most of us are not getting enough water throughout the day. One of the most common complaints I get from clients who are not drinking enough is that water is boring.
How to Make Water Fun
Because I have had so many clients who struggle to get enough water in their daily routines I have created a number of vitamin water recipes. Do you have any idea how much money we spend on flavored water? Turns out it is a billion-dollar industry! More often than not, however, these beverages are loaded with sugars and they can get expensive. That is why I teach my clients to make their own right at home for a fraction of the cost. Get ready to increase your water intake with ease!
Strawberry Lime Mint Water
Makes 2 Quarts
Ingredients:
- 1 Cup Sliced Strawberries
- 2 Limes Sliced
- 1/4 Cup Fresh Mint Leaves
- 2 Bottles Coconut Lime Bia Water
